What is Full Color Print?

It is a printing method that allows you to express photos, multicolored illustrations, gradients, and fine patterns without worrying about the number of colors. It also supports designs that use the entire surface of the pick.

Not only photos and illustrations, but also detailed designs like QR codes can be accommodated. By including guidance to SNS or websites, guitar picks can be used not only as playing accessories but also as shop cards or promotional tools.

Full color is recommended

Recommended for when you want to highlight the world of your work with photos, multicolor illustrations, gradients, full-surface designs, QR codes, and colors.

Foil stamping is recommended

Make logos and names stand out with gold, silver, or other foils. It is suitable when you want to highlight the shine of the foil and the texture of the pick itself.

If you are unsure which to choose

Data required for submission

Please prepare two types of data: "Design Data" and "Positioning Data."

Design Data

This is the original data such as photos, illustrations, or logos to be actually printed. Save it without including the template lines.

DATA 2

Positioning Data

This data overlays the design on the template so you can confirm the print position and size.

By separating the original print data and the data to confirm the finished position, you can accurately verify the intended layout.

Let's create bleed areas.

If printing photos or background colors over the entire pick surface, please extend the image to the outer dotted line.

For backgrounds, photos, or patterns covering the entire area, please extend up to this line.

Inner dotted line

Actual print area (safe zone)
is the same position as the "finish line" on the foil stamping guide. Please place important text and logos within this area.

Please prepare a high-resolution image

Enlarging a small image will cause jagged or blurry edges to appear in the print.

If only the motif, use a transparent background PNG

If you want to print only the logo or illustration part, please prepare a PNG image with a transparent background.

07 Created on a smartphone

Create data with ibisPaint X

You can load the PNG template and place photos or illustrations to create your design.

  1. STEP 1

    Save the template

    Save your desired pick shape from the PNG templateto your smartphone.

  2. STEP 2

    Open with ibisPaint X

    Load the saved template from "My Gallery."

  3. STEP 3

    Place the design

    Add photos or illustrations, and if printing full coverage, extend to the outer dotted line.

  4. STEP 4

    Save the position specification data

    Save with the template lines and design visible together.

  5. STEP 5

    Export design data

    Hide the template lines and save. If you want a transparent background, please save in PNG format.

Common NG examples of submission data

To avoid resubmission, please check the following points before sending.

No bleed

Background or photo does not reach the outer dotted line.

Image resolution is low

A small image is being enlarged significantly for use.

White background remains.

Even if only the motif is intended, the white background is included in the image.

Text is too close to the edge.

Important text or logos are outside the safe area.

How to submit design data.

Once the design data and positioning data are complete, please send them using one of the following methods.

Submitting online.

  • Use cloud storage Upload data to Google Drive, Dropbox, etc., and enter the downloadable shared URL in the remarks field when ordering.
  • Send by email Attach the design data and send it topickboy@pickboy.jp. Please include your name and order number in the email body.
  • Supported file formats AI (please outline text), PDF, PSD, PNG, JPG, etc. are supported.
Please check the access permissions of the shared URL.

When using Google Drive or Dropbox, please set it so that PICKBOY staff can view and download without logging in. If the link has an expiration date, please allow enough time for the review period.

When submitting hand-drawn designs

We have a submission format dedicated to hand-drawn designs. Please download and print the PDF, then draw your design within the format.

Hand-drawn submission format (PDF)

Please send the completed format by photographing it with a smartphone or scanning it. Use dark colors like black, and draw clearly so that lines and fills are distinct.

When taking photos with a smartphone, place the paper on a flat surface and take a bright photo directly from above to avoid shadows or tilting.

When submitting by mail

If you are mailing hand-drawn originals, please include a note with your "name used for the order" and "order number" along with the original.

Frequently Asked Questions

What kind of designs can be used for full-color printing?

You can use photos, multicolored illustrations, gradients, logos, intricate patterns, and more. Designs that cover the entire pick or prints of motifs without a background are also supported.

Why are both design data and position specification data necessary?

The design data is the original image to be printed, while the position specification data is an image used to confirm the position, size, and orientation on the pick. Separating these two allows us to accurately share your desired layout.

Why is bleed necessary?

For full-surface printing, it prevents the base color of the pick from showing due to slight positional shifts during manufacturing. Please extend the background or photo to the dotted line outside the template.

Can I create it without having Illustrator?

Yes. You can create using PNG templates and the free app ibisPaint X on smartphones and tablets. We also provide a format for hand-drawn submissions.

Can I print only the logo or illustration without a white background?

Yes. Please provide PNG data with a transparent background. If the white background remains in the image, that white part will also be printed.

Which should I choose, foil stamping or full color?

Full color is recommended when using photos, multi-colored illustrations, or gradients. Choose foil stamping if you want to simply highlight logos or names with gold, silver, or other foil colors.

First, please place your order from the full-color print product page. You can share the design data by entering the URL in the remarks column at the time of order, or send it by email or mail after placing your order.

If you submit by email or mail, please be sure to provide your name and order number at the time of order. If there are any points to confirm regarding the data, PICKBOY staff will contact you.
