COLLECTIBLE GUITAR PICK ART CARDS is a collection series proposed by PICKBOY that combines 'guitar picks × art cards.' With high-quality finishes achieved through UV full-color printing and gold foil stamping, it balances the beauty of a collection with the inherent functionality of the pick.

The first series features three designs inspired by the comic band "DEAD EXES," illustrated by Kim W. Andersson. Each artwork highlights the unique personalities of the characters, accompanied by an art card and a dedicated pick.

The world of the comic band "DEAD EXES"

DEAD EXES is a band that doesn't just "break up"; they explode with emotions. They scatter apart, vowing "we'll never play together again," yet inevitably return to the same rehearsal room, drawn back by the burning amps—depicted as a band born from heartbreak, obsession, and an extraordinary devotion to music.

Vocalist and bassist Duncan is a romantic who transforms love and ruin into song, serving as the "emotional engine" that drives the band with his outrageous ideas.

Guitarist Penny is a genius who combines precision in playing with soulful expressiveness. Despite being able to reach any glamorous future, she feels that "the sound I create with this band" is her true self, which is why she stays with DEAD EXES.

Drummer Astrid possesses an intensity and energy as if she is drumming to survive. If Duncan is the dream and Penny is the spark, then Astrid is the engine that supports the band. No matter what happens, she has the power to ensure it never ends quietly.

The story of these three characters is planned to be developed into comic works and music projects in the future, and this card serves as a collectible item that acts as an 'entrance' to that world.

Artist Introduction | Kim W. Andersson

Kim W. Andersson is a comic creator/illustrator based in Sweden. He is known for his style that evokes a sense of romance while also incorporating elements of horror and punk energy. One of his representative works, the graphic novel 'Alena,' has been adapted into a feature film and received high acclaim.

In his works, the intense relationships between characters and the dramatic fluctuations of emotions are depicted alongside powerful visuals. In DEAD EXES, he weaves a story filled with friendship, loyalty, and the punk spirit, infusing his deep love for music and subculture into the world of comics.

In this project, Kim, a long-time PICKBOY fan, proposed a collaboration. Combining his passion for music and comics, he started with the desire to share a new form of art called "COLLECTIBLE GUITAR PICK ART CARDS" with Japanese players/creators.

About the PICKBOY × DEAD EXES collaboration

Kim reached out to PICKBOY with the hope of collaborating with the PICKBOY picks he has loved using. He expressed a strong admiration for Japanese culture and shared that his experiences visiting Japan often inspired him to create three-dimensional products featuring his characters in collaboration with a Japanese brand.

PICKBOY resonated with the idea and planned COLLECTIBLE GUITAR PICK ART CARDS as a new way to enjoy guitar picks that is "fun to collect," "beautiful to look at," and "great to actually play." The card design, pick shape, and printing method were created in consultation to match the world of DEAD EXES.

Kim himself commented, "Creating these cards was truly enjoyable, and I feel very proud of the finished product. I want to continue collaborating with PICKBOY in the future."
